In-Office Whitening or Take-Home Kit?

You've got options when it comes to whitening teeth. We offer both in-office treatments as well as take-home kits - so you may be wondering which one might be better for your lifestyle. Today's blog post will be a comparison of both - we've included pros and cons of each, in no particular order.

In-Office Whitening

Pros

  • Faster results - especially important if you have an event coming up (e.g. wedding, corporate event, speaking event, etc)

  • Stronger formulations used - which get whiter teeth, but you'd need a dental professional for the application/monitoring process

  • Light-activated whitening means better results

  • Single appointment

  • We use procedures to minimize sensitivity to lips and gums

  • Get several shades whiter

  • Just show up and get your teeth whiten - you don't have to deal with awkward gels and ill-fitting/uncomfortable trays

  • Safe and effective whitening

  • Leads to a boost in self-confidence

  • Works on teeth that are heavily stained/discoloured

Cons

  • Doesn't work on restorations (e.g. crowns, implants, bridges, etc)

  • May lead to dental sensitivity

  • Doesn't last forever - especially if you smoke and/or consume a lot of staining foods and beverages - for example: curries, coffee, tea, etc. For permanent whitening options, ask about veneers.

  • Costlier than take-home packages

Take-Home Kits

Pros

  • Less expensive option

  • Get several shades whiter

  • Whiten in the comfort of your own home - with the convenience of your schedule

  • Safe and effective whitening

  • At the time of writing, we are currently offering a special promotion for our Opalescene Take-Home Whitening Kits. Contact us for details: (416) 226-6688.

  • Leads to a boost in self-confidence

  • Great for touch-ups and teeth that aren't too stained/discoloured

Cons

  • Doesn't work on restorations (e.g. crowns, implants, bridges, etc)

  • May lead to dental and gum sensitivity

  • Doesn't last forever - especially if you smoke and/or consume a lot of staining foods and beverages - for example: curries, coffee, tea, etc. For permanent whitening options, ask about veneers.

  • Takes multiple treatments to achieve the same results (compared to in-office whitening) - if it reaches the same level of whiteness

  • Less concentrated formulas, so you often don't get the same bright-white as you do in chair-side whitening

  • Requires self-discipline and establishing a routine - you need to remember to use the trays and do it consistently!

Call us today to book your in-office whitening session or to reserve your take-home kit: (416) 226-6688. We proudly offer Zoom! Chairside Whitening and Opalescence Kits.
